"The local library was having a Halloween party and my son and I were dressed as zombies.
I was driving on a dirt road at fifteen miles an hours in our 1989 Ford Van which was faster than I usually drive on this road. Rust problems underneath gave way and the weight of the van was resting on the rear tire on the driver's side. My son and I were towed into town to Oliva Auto Shop.
Senor Oliva said the repairs will cost eight hundred dollars. I gave him two hundred dollars to begin repairs and purchase the shocks and springs needed. Senor Oliva called me three days later telling me our van was ready but it took my son and I a month to save up the remaining six hundred to pay Senor Oliva. After a month I arrived to Senor Oliva shop with the
remaining six hundred dollars. Senor Oliva told me if I was going to use the repairs as a tax write off I would have to give him an additional sixty dollar. I told him I was not aware that I could use the repairs as a tax write off then he wrote me the receipt for eight hundred dollars.
The replacement parts were old rusted parts from Senor Oliva junk yard.
On our way home our van started smoking. Two days later I attempted to drive the sixteen miles to the business section of town and our van stopped after eleven miles. I added transmission fluid and my son and I made it to the edge of town where it stopped again and I
added another quart of transmission fluid. We manged to drive another two miles where our van stopped in front of the local post office where a good samaritan gave us a gallon of transmission fluid and we made it back to Oliva shop where I crawled underneath the van and found the rear housing to the transmission had been chiscled into pieces.
I decided not to do more business with Senor Oliva and I had our van towed away by a different mechanic. The following repairs cost my family another eight hundred dollars. During the process of having the van restored the new mechanics discovered that Senor Oliva had moved the differential on our van back several inches disabling the drive shaft to properly enter the transmission causing damage to the drive shaft and transmission.
Senor Oliva greed and trickery cost my family more than a thousand dollars and three months of living in a shelter while other mechanics figured out how Senor Oliva had sabotaged our van."
