"They gave me.20 cents for #12 romex and #12 single conductor thhn wire. (Nicely separated with no smaller wire) (total weight of 139 pounds)
Online prices range from $1.10 to $1.40. I called another local scrap yard and got a price of $1.00 for my specific wire.
The difference between.20 and $1.00 in my case was $111
Talked to the owners son. (I'm guessing because he said his dad wasn't there when I asked if he was the head guy)
I had just signed the slip moments earlier and he said there was nothing he could do and didn't even offer to meet me in the middle after I told him there's a good bit of room between the two numbers.
I nicely stated if he would like to continue to get my business he would have to be closer to a fair number to which he said that's ok.
I will say, the guys in the field and the young lady in the office were very nice and helpful.
Unfortunately I learned a $111 lesson and will be taking my business somewhere else."
